HOBIE PEDAL KAYAK ECOVENTURE

N. KEEWAYDIN

4 hr PRIVATE tour

This guided pedal kayak tour to Keewaydin Island is a peaceful, enjoyable, one-of-a-kind eco experience.

To start, we will launch the kayaks from Bayview Park boat ramp, and pedal through Dollar Bay, taking in the beautiful views of the surrounding mangroves, birds, and wildlife.

As we make our way towards Keewaydin Island (closer to the North end), we may pass by a variety of different habitats, including seagrass beds, oyster bars, and mangrove forests. These ecosystems provide homes for a wide range of species, including fish, crabs, and birds – many of which we may see up close as we pedal kayak through the area. The kayak portion of the tour is approximately 45 minutes each way.

Once we reach Keewaydin Island, we’ll take a break and explore the island's sandy beaches, dunes, and trails. Enjoy some snacks, hunt for seashells, splash in the Gulf! The island is home to a variety of plant and animal life, including sea turtles, and depending on the time of year we may be lucky enough to spot sea turtle nests during our visit.
After we’ve had a chance to explore the island and take in the beautiful scenery, we will continue our kayak tour by pedaling back to Bayview Park. This tour will likely take four hours total, depending on the wind and currents and the pedal pace of each guest, but it is sure to be a rewarding and memorable experience that allows you to connect with nature and appreciate the beauty of Southwest Florida.

Please note that this tour does not primarily focus on shelling due to the unpredictable availability of shells. Guests are still welcome to collect any empty shells they may find. This spot is not generally known to be a shelling hot spot, but we have found some amazing beachcombing finds from time to time! With 2 hours of island time, there's plenty of time for wandering, swimming, searching for shells, and enjoying a picnic on the beach!

Private Kayak Tour Policy:
In order to keep our tour nice and intimate, private tours are offered at a flat fee for the entire tour, accommodating up to 3 guests. This means that the price for the tour does not change based on the number of guests.
